A regular preoperative check-up is carried out in accordance with the prescriptions
The anaesthetist will be seen in consultation at the latest 48 hours before the operation.
No medication containing aspirin should be taken within 3 weeks of the procedure.
Types of anesthesia and hospitalization modalities:
Hair will be washed the day before and in the morning of the operation and a careful make-up removal will take place on the day of the operation.
It is essential to remain fasting (do not eat or drink anything) 6 hours before the operation.
Type of anesthesia:
The cervicofacial lift can be performed under general anaesthesia or in-depth local anaesthesia with tranquilizers administered intravenously ( "vigilant" anaesthesia).
The choice between these different techniques will be the result of a discussion between you, the anaesthetist and the surgeon.

Each surgeon adopts a technique that is unique to him/her and that he/she adapts to each case to obtain the best results. However, common basic principles can be retained:
The incision is largely hidden in the hair and around the ear.
From the incisions a detachment is made under the skin; its extent depends on each case, in particular on the extent of tissue relaxation.
The musculo-aponeurotic level is then tightened with extreme precision and dosage before correcting the deep sag while preserving the face's natural expression.
In case of localized fat overload, a lipoaspiration is performed at the same time: it can act on the neck, chin, jowls and cheeks. On the other hand, in the event of volume loss, an addition of fat from the patient (lipostructure) will often prove effective in harmonizing the final result.
The naturally redraped skin adapts to the shape created by muscle mobilization, lipostructure or liposuction. Excess skin is removed, sutures are done without tension.
At the end of the operation, most surgeons make a bandage that goes around the head.
The facelift by men has some particularities (thicker skin, displacement of the hair zones, more sparse hair masking scars less discreetly) that your surgeon will discuss with you.
Depending on the surgeon, the importance of the corrections to be made and the actions that may be associated with them, the operation may take two to four hours.

The discharge may take place either the next day or two days after the operation.
The first 10 days, you should rest as much as possible and avoid any violent effort.
During these first few days, the patient should neither be surprised nor worried:
• of an edema (swelling) that may be more pronounced on the second day than on the first
• of bruises in the neck and chin area
• of a painful or unpleasant feeling of tension, especially behind the ears and around the neck.
These bruises and oedemas disappear on average within 2 weeks after surgery.
After the first month, the swelling has generally almost disappeared. But there is still a slight induration of the protruding areas that is more palpable than visible. Ears and cheeks do not regain their normal sensitivity until a few months later.
Sometimes, for several weeks or even months after the operation, a feeling of discomfort, tissue tension, and unpleasant gravity can be observed, which eventually disappears.
The scars are hidden back and forth by the hair. The only area slightly visible, which is in front of the earlobe, may be temporarily masked by hair or make-up.
Basically you are:
• presentable for close friends on the fifth or sixth day, around the twelfth day for friends
• but to appear before people who are not expected to know about the operation, it is necessary to plan for three to four weeks in the absence of incidents.

About face and neck lifting

After one to three months, you can have a good idea of the final result. But the scars are still a little pink and indignant and only fade around the sixth month.
Thanks to the progress made in both pre- and post-operative care and in medical-surgical techniques, an appreciable rejuvenation effect is obtained, which nevertheless remains very natural: the face does not have a "surgical" appearance and has recovered approximately the features that were its own eight or twelve years earlier, which gives an overall rested, relaxed and refreshed appearance.
